Tourist destination info Porec

Porec is a town situated on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula. This town was given the title of the most visited destination in Istria. The population is predominantly involved in tourism, then in trade, architecture and agriculture. The first inhabitants on the peninsula which contains the town core were the Illyrians. The old town core is often referred to as a cultural monument because of the rough and long history. The town keeps numerous historical monuments which you can visit : Eufrasian basilica (the most valuable cultural monument of this town, built in the middle of the 6th century on the foundations of an earlier aisled basilica), Northern fort (built in the 15th century, in gothic style, located at the beginning of the Decumanus street, at the entrance to the old town core), Kanonika (finished in 1251, the most precious example of the romantic architecture), medieval walls (built from 12th-16th century), Marafor ( the biggest roman sanctuary in Istria, built in the 1st century), romantic house (from the 13th century), Neptune temple, round tower (built in the second half of the 15th century) as well as numerous other monuments. Porec is famous for its natural beauties, as well: Baredine pit (6km from Porec, suitable for tourist visits, can be explored up to 60m of depth), Marko’s pit (located on 100 meters above sea level and contains a rich fauna), Pincin pit (zoological natural monument, a natural phenomenon located on the south east of Porec) and a group of trees around the church of St. Ana near Cervar (botanical monument, a group of nine old oak trees, two cedar trees, hackberry tree and pine tree and two pyramidal cypress trees).
A great number of beautiful beaches are located in Porec, where you can enjoy sunbathing and swimming. Visit the Valeta beach (13km from the center), Crnika beach (stone and rocky beach, on the north of Porec), Donji Spadici beach (2km from the town center), Oliva beach (located on the island of St. Nikola, opposite Porec), town beach (ideal for everyone who wants to have fun all day long) and numerous other beaches. Those who want to explore the area can go on countless excursions and visit the Brijuni national park, Lim bay in Rovinj, Venice, Baredine pit, take a tour of the entire Istria, explore the sea bottom and take other trips, as well. Sports and active vacation fans can enjoy walking, cycling, golf, hunting, diving, jet-ski, fishing, sailing, water skiing and numerous other activities. Those in search of more extreme sports can visit the adrenalin park “Akros” or try paintball and sport climbing. If you are willing to savor the specialties of this town, as well as the Istrian cuisine, visit the restaurants “Villa Romana”, “Nostromo”, “Dionius”, or the taverns “Kazeta” and “Rina”.

    Porec Really worth the visit.
porec is a very nice old town with lots and lots of nice coffeehouses, bars, restaurants and so on. When we were there there were a lot of things to do at the beach, like bumpingcars, and other attractions. everything can done by walking, and if you don''t like walking you can rent a bikertaxi or you can park your car near the centre on a big parkingplace. Very nice people.
There was nothing there that we didn''t like.
