Sibenik Riviera - INFO

Owing to its numerous islets, a number of national parks and nature reserves and a true wealth of historical monuments, the Šibenik Riviera is a real jewel of North Dalmatia. The relatively small area of the Šibenik Riviera harbours no less than two national parks. The Krka National Park will offer you the exquisite beauty of the Krka Canyon along with numerous lakes and waterfalls created by the river itself. The Kornati National Park, consisting of 140 islands, islets and reefs, will enchant you with extraordinary sights of stone and sea and sounds of silence.
The Šibenik archipelago offers wonderfully intact nature with 249 islands, islets and reefs. Most of them are not inhabited. The few populated islands of the archipelago still preserve the authentic Mediterranean way of life. The Šibenik Riviera and the island of Murter are well-known for a traditional event called Big game fishing where you can participate in the tuna and swordfish hunt. The town of Primošten is located on an island, where the inhabitants built a bridge to the mainland 5 centuries ago, so they could reach the fields they worked. Sailors call the town a “Dry point” because of long dry periods without rain. The town of Vodice was once a city stronghold that protected its citizens from Turkish invaders, but is now a tourist destination known for its liveliness. The Šibenik Riviera with its natural and the historic surroundings offers numerous possibilities for trips to all areas of the region, marine activates and other forms of recreation.

Did you know
that according to the legend, the Kornati archipelago was created from the white stones which were leftovers after the Creation? God just scattered the stones around and decided not to change anything.
