- The Malacological Museum, Makarska – This museum with the largest collection of shells in the world is situated in the Franciscan monastery.
- The peninsula of St Peter, Makarska – The park in the south side of the town holds the remains of an old church. You can also discover caves and wonderful long promenades that connect all the places on the Makarska Riviera.
- Franciscan monastery, Zaostrog – The monastery houses a rich ethnographic collection and the collection of paintings of renowned Croatian painter Mladen Veža
- Botanical garden, Mount Biokovo – Botanical garden harbours several autochthonous and endemic plant species and the mountain offers numerous bicycle and foot paths.
- Lakes of Imotski and the Cetina River Canyon – a true natural phenomenon, Red and Blue Lakes resemble giant wells. They got their names after the colour of their rocks.

Several times during the summer Makarska hosts music and folklore evenings as well as traditional summer carnivals in which locals and their guests alike joyfully participate. If you like a good bite and wine, we recommend you visit any of numerous restaurants and taverns which offer local specialties. If you want to go back in time, to the Stone Ages, visit the Kremenko (Flintstones) Tavern in a small village called Svinišće near Omiš. Numerous pebble beaches with their cocktail bars attract many young people. Other popular destinations are the cave above the sea where the famous Makarska bar called Deep and disco bar Grotta are situated.
