Croatia - How to arrive by train?

The railway net connects all bigger Croatian towns except Dubrovnik. Direct lines connect Croatia to Slovenia, Hungary, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro. For other countries there are indirect lines.

Examples of travelling by train: Munchen - Rijeka approximately 9 hours, Vienna - Rijeka approximately5 hours.

Types of trains which are in Croatia: EuroCity (EC), InterCity (IC), express (Ex), fast (B) and local trains.

EuroCity and InterCity lines:

  • EC "Mimara": München - Salzburg - Villach - Ljubljana - Zagreb;
  • IC "Croatia": Vienna - Maribor - Zagreb;
  • IC "Sava": München - Salzburg - Villach - Ljubljana - Zagreb - Beograd;
  • IC "Kvarner": Budapest - Zagreb - Rijeka;
  • IC "Podravka": Osijek - Našice - Virovitica - Koprivnica - Zagreb;
  • "Olimpus": Zagreb - Beograd - Skoplje - Solun;
  • "the fast train connection": Zürich - Zagreb.
