The town Hvar is the largest town on the island Hvar and it is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Dalmatia. It is situated in a picturesque natural environment on the southwest side of the island. The guests have a variety of quality accommodations at their disposal in hotels and apartments. There are many possibilities for sport and recreation. You will find crystal clear sea with rocky and small gravel beaches in Hvar, and the most beautiful ones are on the Pakleni islands which are situated in front of the town and are connected with town Hvar by frequent boat lines. Among them, the most popular are:
Jerolim - Well known and a traditional Hvar bathing site equipped with showers and a store. There are boat lines from Hvar to Jerolim each day.
Ždrilica - a woody cove on the Pakleni islands with many gravel beaches, many hidden spots for relaxing enjoying the sun and the sea in Hvar, and a picturesque underwater world.
Palmižana - an extensive cove with shallow water and sand. It is surrounded with dense pine woods, bushes of scented heather and rosemary, and different exotic plants.... There are organized transports each day from the port of Hvar to Palmižana.
Pekonji dol - a gravel cove not far away from Hvar.
Hvar is known as a modern resort. Yachting enthusiasts, local tycoons and ex beauty contest winners drink equally expensive coffee as art professors and retired Americans do. And that is Hvar - a town where older people will enjoy a peaceful holiday, filled with cultural events, and younger guests in cocktail bars, at the "after beach" and night parties. For cocktails in the well known bar "Carpe Diem" people must pay between 70 and 100 kn, but it seems tourists don't mind this, because, as they say, Hvar is Hvar after all.
