Međugorje is one of the most famous Roman Catholic pilgrimage sites in the world. It became known for the apparition of the Virgin Mary, which began to appear as a phenomenon in 1981, and then religious tourism began to develop. The center of the assembly is the Church of Sts. Jakov in the center of the town. Mostar was named after the guardians of bridges ("mostari") on the banks of the Neretva River. It is considered one of the best towns in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the town you can find the Old Bridge, which, together with the old historical center, has been written on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2005.
