The island of Brač is known for its beautiful pebble Beach Zlatni Rat in the town of Bol and it is one of the most famous destinations for surfing and kite-surfing on the Adriatic. Brač stone is also famous worldwide. It is mined only from Brač's quarries and local houses are built from it, as well as the most luxurious houses in the world such as the White house in Washington. The island of Hvar, the sunniest island in Croatia is a favourite destination of the world jet-set due to its authenticity, preserved nature, peaceful bays, clean sea, great gastronomic offer and entertainment. During its long history many churches, palaces and villas have been built on the island, and a vineyard tradition, olive-growing and lavender fields are still preserved and are very much alive. Vis, one of the most distant islands, is specific for its attractive villages such as Komiža and Vis with their old stone centres, small beaches and pine forests. The Fishing Museum in Komiža displays traditional wooden boats that were used for offshore fishing in the past. Five nautical miles offshore from Vis, the island of Biševo is situated with a natural phenomenon occurring in the Blue Cave, which offers its visitors a chance to experience the extraordinary "glowing sea" effect.
