Malinska is located in a beautiful bay on the western part of the island of Krk. This place was formerly famous for its port, and today is a renowned tourist center; it was named after a mill. The area of Malinska is adorned with numerous sandy and pebble beaches, as well as small covert coves for those who do not enjoy the summer crowds. Some of the more beautiful and famous beaches in Malinska are Draga beach (pebble, partially concrete beach, suitable for children), Porat beach (pebble, concrete, family beach, located in the center of Porat) and the Rupa beach (located near Malinska, pebble, concrete beach, adjusted for the disabled persons). The town is also famous for its historical sites which testify about its long and turbulent past. Visit the tower of the ruined St. Apolinara church (it was built in 1618), ruins of the Benedictine church and convent from the 11th and 12th century. In the nearby Porat you can visit the church of St. Mary Magdalene, Franciscan convent from year 1500, gothic renaissance building which was adapted in a baroque style after 200 years, as well as other historical sites. During summer, numerous festivities and manifestations are organized in Malinska, such as St. Apolinara festivity (patron saint of the town, celebrated on July 23rd), Malinska night (end of July), Malinska cultural summer (15.06.-15.09.), as well as the Kvarner regatta in September. If you feel like going out at night, visit the discotheques “Crossroad” and “Jungle” in the town of Krk. Sports and active vacation enthusiasts can enjoy tennis, table tennis, bowling, mini golf, riding, football, basketball, beach volleyball and all types of water sports. If you want to savor the delicacies and various specialties of Malinska and the island of Krk, visit the restaurants “Sottovento” and “Nostromo”, as well as the taverns “Pod Murvu”, “Martin” and “Bracera”.
