Baška is the most famous destination on the island of Krk. It has approximately 30 pebble beaches, and the best are: The 2 km long gravel beach (Rajska plaža) that is considered to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and 1800 m long gravel beach "Vela plaža" that is appropriate for children and non swimmers. There are also numerous sport-recreational programs. Those beaches have encouraged the development of tourism in Baska when the first bathing-place on the island Krk (today one of the top ten destinations on the Adriatic) was opened. Baška is a cultural centre where the first written document (900 years old Baška Stone Tablet)is kept.
