As a main tourists center with rich history, ancient buildings, beaches, various accommodation types (apartments, studio apartments and hotels) Split is also a main tourists transit center and well connected to rest of Croatia and Europe. You can reach Split by personal car, bus, train, airplane or ferry boat.
Split is second most important airport terminal in Croatia. It is well connected to all major European cities, with frequent flights all day long during the summer season. The airport is located 25km from the city and the harbor. If you fly via Zagreb, you will have even more options to reach Split. It is best to ask your airline company. If you are coming overseas, fly through Frankfurt, Munich, Amsterdam, London or Vienna as these airports have frequent daily flights to Split.
Airport buses run from the terminal to the city after most of the scheduled flights and stop at the harbor. The best way to reach the harbor is either by bus or private transfer. The cost of our transfer for up to 8 persons is 48,00 EUR. Taxi service is also available.
The port of embarkation for passengers arriving by plane depends on the flight schedule. If your flight arrives in the morning you will have enough time to reach the port and embark in Split. If your flight arrives later you will have to book a transfer from the airport to the first port of call, in order to embark there in the late afternoon or evening.
If you are coming by the road, you have three choices:1. Highway A1 - Croatian Highway A1. If you arrive by highway (from either Zagreb or Dubrovnik) the highway exit is Dugopolje. From the highway exit the road is fast (mostly two lanes in both directions) and the distance is 15 kilometers. Follow the signs towards Split and then the ferry sign.2. Coastal road - Jadranska Magistrala. If you plan to travel to Split from Sibenik or further north during the summer season, we recommend using the highway (A1) due to the risk of running into traffic jams on the coastal road. Travelling from Sibenik to Split using the coastal road outside the summer season is not a bad option because you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and at the same time save on highway tol fees.3. Middle Croatian Highway D1. Beginning at Croatia’s northern border follow the D1 Highway through to the capital city Zagreb towards the following towns before reaching Split:Karlovac - Plitvice (National Park) - Korenica - Gracac - Knin - Drnis – Kastela – Split.
