Stari Grad (Old Town) is one of the oldest towns in the Europe and the oldest town on the island Hvar. It is situated on the north-western part of the island, in a deep and well protected cove which provides a safe shelter to many navigation experts. This is the city of cultural monuments on whose place once was standing Greek town Pharos, and today it is modern tourist centre. Beaches in Stari Grad are mostly gravel and concrete, and the most famous are:
Lanterna - a city beach which is approximately 800 km far from the centre of the place, and it is made up of gravel little cove and concrete boards
Maslina - a sandy cove which is situated nearby a ferry port and approximately 2 km from the centre of Stari Grad
Banj - a city beach, approximately 500 meters from the centre of Stari Grad. It is made up of a gravel part and concrete boards
Hotel bathing resort - a bathing resort which is situated beneath a hotel complex in Stari Grad. It is made up of concrete boards and a gravel cove
Paklena, Baba, Zavala, Žukova - gravel and rocky beaches which are situated on a peninsula that closes a bay of Starigrad.
