Lovran is a town with a long and diverse past, with a hundred-year-long tradition of tourism. The name Lovran derives from the word lovor, or laurel, an evergreen whose freshness gives the place a particular charm. Lovran is situated on the north part of the Kvarner bay and it belongs to the Opatija Riviera. Only 5 km far from Opatija and 17 km from Rijeka, Lovran was for a long time a fashionable summer and winter resort for the Austro-Hungarian gentry. Approximately 5 km from Lovran, in Moščenićka Draga, there are the most beautiful beaches of entire Riviera. Thanks to mild and healing climate, marvellous and quite unparalleled combination of sea and mountain, Lovran became the tourist destination that is convenient for a vacation of those people who are looking for peace and relaxation in every season of the year. To younger people, if they are desirous of entertainment and night life, we recommend nearby towns Opatija and Rijeka.
