Rovinj is situated on the southwest coast of the peninsula and surrounded by 22 larger and smaller islands. It is a favourite tourist destination to many people. In the last few years a great number of pebble beaches arose in the town, among which the most popular are: in Valta, in Villas Rubin motor camp, in Veštar motor camp and the beach in Lona cove. Beaches in Škaraba bay and Rusa cape are situated higher on rocks which go down directly into the sea and because of that they are perfect for younger people who enjoy jumping and doing acrobatics. The whole of Rovinj's coast is a protected natural heritage. Very rich flora and fauna in the sea are the result of well-indented coast and diversity of the submarine world.
