{"id":2138,"date":"2012-02-27T19:21:00","date_gmt":"2012-02-27T19:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/http:\/\/blog1.adriagate.com.adriagate.comhttp:\/\/blog1.adriagate.comhttp:\/\/blog1.adriagate.com\/uncategorized\/tourists-claim-the-prices-in-croatia-are-not-high-they-vary\/"},"modified":"2018-04-19T06:28:13","modified_gmt":"2018-04-19T06:28:13","slug":"tourists-claim-the-prices-in-croatia-are-not-high-they-vary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog1.adriagate.com\/en\/tourists-claim-the-prices-in-croatia-are-not-high-they-vary\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cThe prices in Croatia are not high, they vary\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"float: left;\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Menu-outside-restaurant1201-001.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Given that every year <em>newspapers<\/em> write about how the <em>prices on the Adriatic<\/em> are high for tourists, the reporters of <em>Slobodna Dalmacija<\/em> made a field study to see whether it was true or not and what\u00a0 the tourists think about the offer \u2013 they reached the conclusion that <em>the prices are not high, they vary!<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nA regular coffee on the <em>Riva in Split<\/em> costs 7 kunas, coffee with milk 9 kunas, cappuccino 10 kunas, mineral water 9 kunas and Coca-Cola 14 kunas. You cannot buy an ice-cream ball on the <em>Riva<\/em> for less than 6 kunas, while you have to pay at least 50 kunas for a pizza.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nThey asked tourists who walked around town in the morning if those prices were acceptable or not. A married couple, the Donnellys from England, who are about to spend ten days on destinations from the <a title=\"NP Krka croatia Adriagate.com\" href=\"\/\/www.adriagate.com\/Croatia-en\/National-parks-Croatia\">Krka national park<\/a> to <a title=\"Dubrovnik Croatia Adriagate.com\" href=\"\/\/www.adriagate.com\/Croatia-en\/Dubrovnik\">Dubrovnik<\/a>, said:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">-Coffee is not that expensive; back in England it costs 2 pounds, around 16 kunas in a coffee shop or restaurant. On the other hand, your mineral water is a bit more expensive. The price of ice-cream is ok, but the price of a pizza is similar to ours.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In England it is 7-8 pounds. However, your pizzas are great, big and tasty \u2013 says Anna.<br \/>\nConsidering they have already been to <a title=\"Omis Croatia Adriagate.com\" href=\"\/\/www.adriagate.com\/Croatia-en\/Omis\">Omis<\/a>, they say that the prices are much lower there and that their friends have warned them of the expensive <em>Dubrovnik<\/em> and the fact that the catering prices there are double.\u00a0 They are satisfied with the general<em> tourist offer<\/em> of the <a title=\"Peninsula Pelje\u0161ac Croatia Adriagate.com\" href=\"\/\/www.adriagate.com\/Croatia-en\/Riviera-Peljesac\">Peljesac peninsula<\/a>; they are enchanted by the <em>gastronomic offer<\/em> of the area, especially <a title=\"Ston Croatia Adriagate.com\" href=\"\/\/www.adriagate.com\/Croatia-en\/Ston\">Ston<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Maro Hajdarhod\u017ei\u0107, a caterer from <em>Dubrovnik<\/em>, explained to us why the prices are so high in Dubrovnik:<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I think the prices at <em>Gradska kavana<\/em> are not exaggerated; they are realistic considering it is on <em>Stradun<\/em> and that the rent is extremely high. Besides, those prices are similar to the ones in <em>Zagreb malls<\/em>. For example, in <em>Dubrovnik<\/em> coffee latte is 14 kunas while in <em>Kaptol<\/em> it is 12 kunas, so the difference in regards to the <em>Zagreb<\/em> prices is not great.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"float: right;\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/kavica.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They asked mr. Stjepan Sveni\u0107 from Osijek, who spends his vacation on <a title=\"Island Kor\u010dula Croatia Adriagate.com\" href=\"\/\/www.adriagate.com\/Croatia-en\/Island-Korcula\">Korcula<\/a>:<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em>Korcula<\/em> is far cheaper than <a title=\"Hvar Croatia Adriagate.com\" href=\"\/\/www.adriagate.com\/Croatia-en\/Island-Hvar\">Hvar<\/a> and <em>Dubrovnik<\/em>. When you take into consideration that we are in the middle of the season and that the prices gallop during the season, <em>Korcula<\/em> is not at all expensive, given that as a <em>tourist destination<\/em> it is not less attractive than <a title=\"Hvar Croatia Adriagate.com\" href=\"\/\/www.adriagate.com\/Croatia-en\/Hvar-island-Hvar\">Hvar<\/a> and <em>Dubrovnik<\/em>.
