Easter is approaching! Easter time is particularly interesting for children because they can color the eggs. In the past, eggs were colored with light colors which marked the celebration of spring and the custom of giving eggs originates even before the appearance of Christianity.

You and your children can color the eggs with natural and healthy colors without bags, chemicals or artificial ingredients!

Natural colors for egg coloring

  • You will obtain a green color by boiling eggs with nettle, spinach or leek.
  • You will obtain a yellow color if you boil walnut shells in the same water you are going to boil the eggs in
  • Eggs are going to turn out red if you boil them together with the madder root, beetroot or red radicchio
  • Eggs are going to turn out brown-reddish is you cook the scales of red onion for about 10 minutes in the water, then add a spoon of vinegar and put the eggs in to boil.
  • You will obtain a black-brownish color  by cooking  oak root in the water you are later going to use to cook eggs in.

We wish you a Happy Easter!
