You have determined the date of your holiday, you chose Croatia as your destination which you wanted to visit for a long time or you are travelling to a familiar place… just a few little things that you should know before you head towards the sun:

Traveling Croatia Adriagate.com

1.    Select the region in which you want to spend your holiday! On a piece of paper write down all of your wishes, and based on them create a plan. Decide in which part of Croatia you wish to be in and everything you wish to see. Would you rather stay close to the sandy and pebble beaches, do you like the more attractive tourist destinations with good night life, or would you rather escape from the bustle of everyday life to a small fishing village where you will relax with the waves and the sound of seagulls? Pay attention to all the advantages and disadvantages of the location. Keep in mind how close you are to the town center, if there are good restaurants close by, are there possibilities for excursions, and everything else you want to see … help and advice can be found on many sites with travel literature, on forums or even better contact the customer service department of the agency through which you are booking.

2.    Book your accommodation on time! Surely you know that Croatia with its 1185 islands, islets, rocks and reefs has the second largest indented coast in Europe, including a wide selection of accommodation situated on the beach. If you like to be woken up by the smell of the sea, try out a morning swim, not waste time on the road to the beach or park, experience Robinson Crusoe tourism in one of
Croatians lighthouses or a fisherman’s cottages in a secluded place and feel the magic of stone built villas, then we suggest you book such an accommodation on time. Bookings for next year start already in early November of the current year. The most attractive accommodation for the period from July 1st to September 1st will be sold out in April. Hurry up!

3.    Book tickets on time! When making the first and biggest decision for your holidays in Croatia, you must specify how you wish to travel: by air, by car or other means of transportation. If you will not be travelling with your personal car, book a ticket at a time – this will save you money and avoid any potential problems around seat availability.

4.    Check your documents! Make sure you get all the necessary documentation for your reservation. Remember that you need a valid passport in order to enter Croatia.

5.    Check your car equipment! If you choose to travel by car it is a good time to check if you have all mandatory equipment such as a first-aid kit, warning triangle and spare bulbs, remember to put them in an easily accessible place. Check tire pressure, to prevent the danger of bursting. Check the amount of cooling and braking liquids, add engine oil if necessary. Develop and plan for your travels.

6.    Passport for your pet! If you will be bringing your pet along on your holiday to Croatia, you will need his passport / identity card. Get it at the vet and make sure that it contains information about the dog, the owner and vaccinations. For identification purposes your pet should have a tattoo or an implanted microchip. During your booking process do not forget to mention that you  have a pet and make sure your accommodation is close to a beach where pets are permitted.

7.    Chek your health insurance policy! Be sure to check if your general health insurance (or additional insurance) covers all, none or at least a small part of treatment costs in Croatia. Be sure to prepare and care kit, “a traveling pharmacy, ” which should include sunscreen, mosquito protective lotion, small hygiene bags and wet wipes, painkillers and fever reducing pills/syrup, band aids/plasters, thermometer… if you take a particular treatment be sure to bring along enough doses.

8.    In Croatia you need Croatian Kuna! The best place to change domestic into foreign currency is in Croatia. If you will be bringing large sums of cash with you, be sure to spread it in several places, so that in case of theft you will be able to return home happily with little complication.

9.    Make a list of personal items  and do not forget to secure your home while you’re on holiday.

I hope I have managed to help you with general advice. If you have additional questions, please  feel free to contact me, start planning your holiday on time and get ready for memorable and priceless moments in Croatia.
