Easter is the greatest holiday in Christianity, it is the day of Jesus Christ‘s resurrection.

In Croatia it is a custom, as in many countries, for the family to gather at home in peace for Easter, to enjoy each other’s company and the various delicacies set out on the dinner table. On Easter Sunday it is a  tradition to eat ham, home-made bread as well as traditional desserts the women have prepared. On this day Croatians attend morning mass. Some of the food is brought to church for Easter Mass where the priest blesses it, after which the faithful go to their homes to enjoy it for Easter dinner and to celebrate.

In Croatia the usual custom of decorating Easter eggs is also observed where rabbits and chickens are a common symbol. Dyeing eggs in natural ways, using a mixture of various plant dyes and wax, is still a custom in most homes.

Do not forget that Easter is an opportunity for rebirth and for creating new beginnings. Easter holidays are a great opportunity for a short vacation and the best way to recharge your batteries.
