Đenovići tourist destination info

Đenovici is a perfect place for peaceful holiday, far from the large tourist cities, but close enough to all surrounding sights. The current name Đenovici (Gioneoevich) was first mentioned in the Venetian documents. However, it is assumed that the place was inhabited even earlier as a Greek settlement Stoli (Stolium) which is the name of the sight on west coast. It is believed that this was a city that sank into the sea because of the earthquake. It is still possible to see the former city walls in the sea. You can visit numerous churches, such as: St. Stefan’s church (from 1870), St. Simeon Stolnik’s church, St. Niholas church and St. Spiridon’s church (from 1867).

You will find concrete and sand beaches along the coast, which are perfect for swimming during the day and rich in gastronomic offers during the night. The area has rich vegetation, especially mimosa flower (famous also for the Mimosa festival). It is celebrated on the beginning of February by a procession accompanied by music and majorettes and it begins in Denovici town and end in the nearby Baosici town.
