Even though Split is an urban, university and economical center of the region, along with its 1700-years-old history, many archeological, historical and cultural monuments, it offers its visitors many numerous beaches and bathing resorts in the town or in its near proximity. In order to find a beach and relax by the refreshing, blue sea I made a little tour of the beaches in Split:

Bacvice – a sandy beach almost in the center of Split awarded a Blue Flag. The cove is 600m long, 180m of which consists of the sandy beach and shallow sea – popular place to play Picigin ( a game in which a small ball has to be kept in air using your hands). You can rent deck-chairs and beach umbrellas; there are coffee bars, pizza huts and pastry shops in which you can find refreshment.

Znjan  –  a pebble beach approximately 5km east of the center of Split. It is the favorite beach of water sports and active vacation lovers, as well as children because of countless trampolines. Not far from the beach there are bars in which you can hide from the sun and refresh with a beverage.

Kastelet – is a pebble beach in a beautiful cove, approximately 3km west of the centre of Split. On the south side of Marjan, the beach is covered in white pebbles which accent its purity and beauty in a special way.

Kasjuni – a pebble and rocky beach beneath the south side of Marjan (approximately 3km west of the centre of Split). Do not forget to bring water or a sandwich given that there is no kiosk.

Jezinac – a pebble beach, approximately 3km west of the center of Split, also on the south side of Marjan. The beach has showers and changing-rooms. There are some tables in the shade above the beach, where you can hide from the sun and play a game of cards.

Bene – partially pebble, partially rocky beach below the shade of tall pine trees (park forest Marjan) to which you will have to come on foot because the vehicles cannot pass. The beach is arranges with lots of extra contents: slide, lifeguard tower, showers and changing-rooms. At the back of the beach there is a sports center where you can rent sports prompts. There are also tennis and football courts.

Trstenik – is a pebble beach 4km east of the center of Split. The advantage of this beach is a shallow entrance to the sea so we recommend it for all ages. However, the beach does not have any shade. Changing-rooms and showers are set, and you can rent deck-chairs.

Ovcice – a pebble beach not far from the center of Split  (right after Bacvice). The sea is beautiful, but unfortunately, there is almost no place to put your towel. We recommend you come earlier so you could find a pleasant spot.
